He’s been a busy guy and assures me that he’s back at work on Encore 6… or Overture 6 with the ability to open old Encore files. That prior decision to treat the products separately may change—he’s not decided yet. Since MTP functionality is already a part of Overture 5, that may be the best way to go. He claims to be about 95% there and I got to listen to some of the old demo files being played in Overture.

Otherwise, we had a nice talk and I learned more about how much of a disaster the Encore source code was—worse than any of us can imagine.

Target dates were discussed but I’m not going to repeat them. It’s been too long since any of us have put stock in those, right? Yeah…
