I’ve been using Encore 5 to re-orchestrate some old compositions to sell to a new client. All this brought to life again the pain of using Encore 5’s Drum Map. In Encore 4, one could choose which map to use for different percussion tracks. Encore 5 no longer provided this. I certainly hope that Encore 6 will. Reasoning: Compositions can use a mix of types of percussion, and notations that are expected by the percussionist can lead to notation conflicts without the ability to create multiple maps. By this I mean two different instruments expecting to use the same notehead and staff position, which at least old Encore doesn’t allow. Also, multiple sound sources might be used, each with a different set of drum sounds, and used choosing different banks. All of this isn’t possible with only a single Drum Map.
