Is there any valid information when Passport Music will launch Encore 6? Will Encore 6 applicable with Ipad Pro?
April 6, 2023 at 10:43 am #1788Mike HalloranParticipantNo news on a launch date.
There are no current plans to port to iPadOS.
Fender/PreSonus has recently Notion for iPad. It’s now free with in-app purchases. It works well and supports MusicXML 3.0 as well as the Apple pencil. I’ve been using it since first released about ten years ago.

May 24, 2023 at 10:47 am #1862DrGeorgeMiklasParticipantZzZzZzZzZzZz I’m snoozing again while I wait for Encore 6…
May 24, 2023 at 8:09 pm #1867Mike HalloranParticipantYea… I’m not holding my breath. I want it when it becomes available but am not letting this keep me from getting my work done.
Encore is a tool. If I must, I’ll use another. If I need to open an old file, there are ways. Everything I’ve ever done has been exported to MIDI, MusicXML and pdf. Nothing will be lost when I get a new Mac; it will just be a bit inconvenient to convert these files to something else.

June 22, 2023 at 10:51 am #1880lekbennerParticipantWill Encore 6 be able to open musictime deluxe files?
June 22, 2023 at 11:37 pm #1881Mike HalloranParticipantIt’s a safe assumption that Encore 6 will open anything that could be opened by Encore 5. This should include the last version of MTD files as these can be opened by E5.
As to older files, it unknown how far back E6 will be able to reach. We won’t know till it ships.

July 9, 2023 at 4:49 pm #1901garytempParticipantA question for Mike Halloran, or any other Encore 5 user. (I just registered here but used to have an account on the old zendesk site) I have a handful of old MusicTime (.mus) files I would like to convert, and happy to pay a reasonable fee to someone who is willing to open them and export as MusicXML, or failing that, as PDF or MIDI. My direct email is [email protected]
July 9, 2023 at 7:10 pm #1902Mike HalloranParticipantGary, email sent.
When my wife threw out my old Mac G4, I lost the ability to convert all MTD files. It will depend what version of MTD created them whether or not I will be successful. I’ll be glad to give it a try.
July 9, 2023 at 11:48 pm #1906garytempParticipantThanks, I will check the spam folder, no email received as of yet. My version of MTD was 4.0.4 for Windows. I have the license email and somewhere the updater to take it from 4.0.1 to 4.0.4, what I am missing is my original installation file for 4.0.1. I did find a demo version online, but it does not bring up a window to enter the license, and the demo does not allow printing or exporting in any format. EDIT: I finally located the original install file on an old hard drive!!!

July 10, 2023 at 12:06 am #1907July 11, 2023 at 2:10 pm #1910Mike HalloranParticipantI was able to convert Gary’s Music Time Deluxe 4 file. Loading it on my MacOS Mojave boot drive and double-clicking was all it took and it opened right up in Encore 5.0.7 for Mac. Although .mus file extensions can sometimes confuse a Mac into opening Finale instead, that wasn’t a problem and I did not have to change the extension. From there, I was able to use the Export menu to save as .mid and .xml. As the file was only one page, this took less than a minute. Printing to PDF in Preview, Apple’s bundled PDF app, likewise, took a few seconds.
Because of this, I am confident that Encore 6 should open the same file types without a problem.
What I don’t know is if Encore 5 can open MTD files earlier than v.4. I never had MTD 3 and will have to search my archives to see if I still have any MTD 1 and 2 files. I would have converted them to Encore over 25 years ago but there is the possibility that I may the original files.
