Last time Don and I spoke, he was asking how I use Virtual Instruments in Encore 5. My answer was “very little” since it was problematic and the documentation is a work of fiction in that regard.

I have promised to get back into it and document my results which I will do here. I’m running Encore 5.0.7 (5.0.6 1303M) on a 2012 MacBook Pro over macOS 10.14.6 Mojave connected to a 27” 4K monitor. I haven’t played hundreds of VIs from many companies but will limit my tests to those that run 32bit. I’ll likely start with UVI and SampleTank unless I can get old versions of Kontakt 5 (pre 5.6) to work.

What about you? What is working? I’m especially curious about Windows since I gave away my Win7 PC a few years ago.

Please be specific regarding your OS, VI libraries, whether you are following the documentation, what workarounds get the job done etc. Is anyone using a VI rack a lá Dorico?
