I used Encore from 1995 until Windows 10 came out. I can’t wait for Encore 6 release. Encore has always been the simplest and most elegant music notation program available. Back in the day, I had all the shortcuts memorized and used it constantly. I simply hope Encore 6 will return the older Drum Map features of Encore 4 and before. Losing it was a big disappointment with Encore 5. I also hope one can open and convert the older Encore formatted files.

I stopped using it (ver 5) because it frequently crashed under Windows 10. Plus the drum map feature was key to my writing for Latin Percussion as well as standard drum set and orchestral percussion. Version 5 lost that ability and the work around – changing the name of some drmapN.ini to drmap0.ini and renaming the one I didn’t want to use – all before starting Encore. A pain in the butt.
The final straw came when I started teaching Music Theory in a local high school and my options were Sibelius and Finale: Encore wasn’t in the picture. So, reluctantly, I have started using these other programs.

Helaas…… IK ben een Encore gebruiker vanaf het ontstaan van dit programma.
Helaas merk ik nu dat ik het vertrouwen in Passport ( Don ) begin te verliezen
IK krijg de indruk dat er voorlopig helemaal geen Encore 6 komt en dat we een beetje
voor de gek worden gehouden.
Er is ook helemaal geen communicatie meer.Wat is er nu echt aan de hand.?
Sinds de tijd van GVOX hoor ik de belofte van een nieuwe versie of op zijn minst een update. Dus ik was achterdochtig toen Don aankondigde dat Encore zou worden voortgezet en dat er een nieuwe versie zou komen.
Maar aangezien Don de vader is van Encore, MusikTime en MasterTracks, had ik er wel vertrouwen in dat het deze keer werkelijkheid zou worden.
Don’s aankondigingen in januari 2025 waren ook begrijpelijk en heel geloofwaardig.
Maar het feit dat we de laatste tijd niets meer van hem hebben gehoord, maakt me een beetje bezorgd dat hij misschien niet meer zo gezond is. Dat zou een mogelijke verklaring zijn voor het gebrek aan communicatie.
Maar ik hoop dat Don het goed maakt en het zo druk heeft met het maken van de software dat hij geen tijd heeft om het hier te communiceren. Hoop doet leven!
Anders volg ik de communicatie op dit forum bijna dagelijks in de hoop op het “verlossende” nieuws 😉
Ik had al in de “FAKE”-draad geschreven dat de huidige Encore-versie 5.x.x voldoende is voor mijn behoeften en dat andere muzieksoftware voor mij te overladen en te ingewikkeld is (ik heb er een paar geprobeerd). In dit opzicht kan ik, in tegenstelling tot veel andere gebruikers hier, leven met de huidige Encore. Maar ik zou de nieuwe versie ook verwelkomen en kopen. Al was het maar vanwege het betere XML-filter.
Naar mijn mening is er echter nog hoop zolang deze website bestaat.I have been hearing the promise of a new version or at least an update since GVOX times. Accordingly, I was suspicious when Don announced that he would continue Encore and create a new version.
Since Don is the father of Encore, MusikTime and MasterTracks, there was some confidence that this time it would become reality.
Don’s announcements in January 2025 were understandable and quite credible.
However, the fact that we haven’t heard anything from him recently makes me a little worried that he might not be in such good health. That would be one possible explanation for the lull in communication.
But I hope Don is doing well and is so busy creating the software that he doesn’t have time to communicate it here. Hope dies last!
Otherwise, I follow the communication in this forum almost daily in the hope of the “redeeming” news 😉
I had already written in the “FAKE” thread that the current Encore version 5.x.x is sufficient for my needs and that any other sheet music software is too overloaded and too complicated for me (I had tried a few). In this respect, unlike many other users here, I can live with the current Encore. But I would also welcome and buy the new version. If only because of the better XML filter.
In my opinion, however, there is still hope as long as this website exists.I’m one who needs the Music XML Export from Encore to work, so I can much more easily continue working on older Encore scores. If a Converter that did only this were offered, I would buy it in a heartbeat. If the new full version of Encore 6 turns out to be so good that it allows me to go back to Encore, so much the better.
But my problem in trying to wait patiently is this forum software that confuses me with post dates that just are not accurate. Following the communication in this forum is usually futile because the post dates make no sense even after refreshing the browser. I check the forum, see that there is a new post within a day or two, only to find I already read it days or weeks ago.
