Well, Fall stretches out to December 20th, which is nearly two months away. “Late Fall” is still to come, I guess (and hope it won’t be re-scheduled !) 😉

Help – this interruption seems to have fouled up my MusicTime Deluxe 4 – printing is a problem – asks for my license every time I save some work. The winter months are the months when I prepare (scoring) for Spring and Summer choir – I’m in panic mode -Karen

I have Encore 5.0.4.875 Runs fine on Windows 11. But like everyone else, I’m just checking in to see if there’s any updates to “release fall of 2022” As Dr Seuss said “This is like the unicorn – it is rumoured to exist, but I doubt I will see any.”

Attention Don Williams. As evidenced by the many very patient Encore users who are contributing to this forum, WE LOVE ENCORE. But we need it updated to run on modern computing machinery. Please help us. Please make Encore 6 your priority #1.

    Good evening,

is it possible to have news of the planned release date of version 6? How much will the license cost?

And finally, currently how is it possible to acquire a license for the latest version 5?

    Thank you for the details.

At the moment it seems it is not possible to purchase a license for version 5 or earlier.

I think it is more probable that the renewal and adaptation to today’s needs of a software that has not received necessary and relevant updates for years has turned out to be a much more complex and laborious operation than expected.

Perhaps the best thing we can do is using MuseScore…

That’s exactly what I’m doing at the moment.
Version 4 on Mac works quite well, the problem is that an xml file exported from Encore by Musescore 3 and 4 is mostly seen as a corrupted file, and even if it manages to open it without crashing there are strange structure and pagination errors.

MusicXML import in MuseScore leaves a lot to be desired. Notion, Dorico and Finale handle it much better. Unfortunately, xml export from Encore is only v. 1.1 (Windows) or 1.3 (Mac) and does not support lyrics or expressions.

If you printed your Encore scores to PDF so that they retain font info, you might check out Melody Assistant’s PDFtoMusic Pro ($199). For evaluation, it can only handle one page. It’s not very good but its .xml or compressed .mxl opens in Finale, Dorico and Overture much better with lyrics and expressions (text is hit and miss) — still not very good into MuseScore. It will not import into Notion at all. The non Pro version ($65) does not export MusicXML at all and is totally worthless, IMO.

SmartScore 64 Pro is a straight scanning app and lets you edit your scan before exporting MusicXML 3.0. Its $399. Works a lot better than PDFtoMusic. No discount for MuseScore owners but Encore owners can get it for $299 ($199 if you own Finale). Its .xml imports to Notin, also.
