I’m a user of Encore since it was released on floppy. Later on, I had it on disk and it was updated by Internet.
I still use it on an old Mac G5 from 2005! I hope that the Version 6 comes quickly. I’m already busy with musescore, a fine program too, and for free.
Yet, I like Encore more and I have a few old Macs that can handle the program. I had some serious problems with the compressed rests, but finally solved this.
Does anyone else had the same problems?

Yes, I remember that the compressed rests function did not always work correctly, but by accepting those imperfections it was generally possible to achieve the desired result 😉

When you make an extract part, leave the option compressed rests out. You get your extract part with all the rests. Then make the compressed rests manually, start at the end of the piece. When it doesn’t work, make a new file with the desired amount of compressed rests. Then, copy and paste it in your extract part and delete whatever you want to leave out. This is the recipe for good compressed rests. It took me some time, but I can make it perfect now, without imperfections.
    What was your solution?

Still hope that there is a version 6 coming….. In The Netherlands, the winter is over, spring has started….

Yes, I generally acted this way too. By the way, even when there was some unexpected behavior, the decompression and subsequent re-compression of the empty bars normalized the situation. I must say that on MacOS Mojave the program was/is particularly stable.
