Hi, I’ve been using Master Tracks Pro since I had my Atari/ST and Windows 3.1 computers.

I still use it because it’s fast, and has good editing features. Also, I love that it is unencumbered by Audio. That makes the menus quick and easy to use. One click on the menu, and one click on the subject and I’m in — no sub-menus, and sub-sub-menus.

I’ve tried Cakewalk, and Cubase, but I keep coming back to MTPro. I have the latest GVox version, and until Windows 10 came along, I still used the last Passport version (with the 8.3 file names). Alas, that one no longer loads.

I use it to make the backing tracks for my duo http://www.s-cats.com, “The Sophisticats” and I also use it to write aftermarket styles for Band-in-a-Box at Norton Music https://www.nortonmusic.com

I also have a copy of Encore, but I don’t use it all that much. Sometimes a head chart for my duo, or perhaps 16 bars of music that I need to remember. We have over 600 songs, and I just can’t memorize them all, so I use either words or a small chart to jog my memory.

My primary instrument is saxophone, but I also play wind synthesizer, guitar, bass, drums, flute, keyboard synth and vocals. I make a living doing music and nothing else but music.

I’m very excited to see a new version of MTPro coming in the future. IMO it can’t come too soon, but I’ll be patient.

My request, don’t bog it down with audio DAW functions. If you find that necessary, have a click way to get rid of all those options on the menu so that when MIDI sequencing, there are only the dialog boxes I need, and they are never more than two clicks away.

I’ll check back from time to time, and if you give me a heads-up (whenever that might be in the future) I’ll be one of your first customers.

Another feature I’d like to see (if it’s possible) is this.

Sometimes I decide to rearrange a song I’m working on, which may involve copying and pasting an A or B or C section and inserting it somewhere else. If there are notes that anticipate the bar line, like a strummed guitar, it’s a PITA to copy the part, and get it the guitar notes to start before the measure where I paste them. There are a few ways around it, but they are time-consuming.

In the dialog boxes like Port And Channel Select, I’d like to be able to use the mouse or the keyboard. Currently, it’s only mouse. This isn’t a big deal, but would add some efficiency to the process. Sometimes the mouse is in my hands, sometimes the keyboard is under my hands.

    More than one undo.

    Thanks for listening.

Keep the interface simple, so there are no sub-menus, and even if you don’t add much, I’m a happy camper.
