Will MusicTime Deluxe come back too? I’ve been working with this software for 30 years and since I don’t want to lose my hardware that I still modify, I’m still on macOS 10.13.6. for this reason đŸ˜¢.
October 10, 2022 at 8:41 pm #1358Mike HalloranParticipantI haven’t used MusicTime Deluxe in over 25 years but I remember that, when I switched to Encore, the first thing I did was open my MTD files and save them in the full featured app. Is there any reason why this wouldn’t work for you?
None of the best known notation apps offer an entry level version anymore except Dorico. I’m not being facetious, just trying to understand why you feel a new version of MTD would be needed. Am I missing something?
November 3, 2022 at 5:16 pm #1460Mario2ParticipantNicole,
I started with MusicTime 2.0 in the 90s and switched to Encore in 2014. I was able to open and edit all MusicTime files in Encore.
Encore offers more possibilities than MusicTime.
The interface is the same for both programs. Should work with your hardware.December 30, 2022 at 3:37 pm #1594CorinneParticipantI have used MTD for many years. I am getting a new MAcbook Pro. I need to update music writing software. Do I update MTD or is it Encore… or what is the easiest and most comparable. What transfers to people using Finale or Sibelius. ? I do not want to learn a new program
THanksJanuary 2, 2023 at 3:16 pm #1601[email protected]ParticipantI have been using this program for years – it is now asking for my license – which I don’t think I saved – please help
January 11, 2023 at 4:41 pm #1623[email protected]ParticipantThe program will not save – will not print without being superimposed – frustration plus – I have used this program and it is ‘broken’ – and there is no contact to help with this dilemma – when will this get fixed
January 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #1643Mike HalloranParticipantIf MTD is not printing on a Windows machine, the normal culprit is that it cannot find a valid license. Windows updates are well known for causing path errors. You may have to remove and reinstall MTD, reboot.
The last four MacOS are 64 bit only. 32 bit apps like MTD and Encore cannot work until upgraded. Encore 6 will be 64 bit and open older files but no one knows how old yet. Encore 5, unfortunately, could not open many older files.
December 11, 2024 at 5:48 pm #3628[email protected]ParticipantGood Evening, I’m in the Caribbean and have used MTD from 1996, today it crashed on me and I’m now seeing these chats. I presently use windows 10 and run MTD 3.5.4, my install code is
2-B11151872-891. I’ve never needed another notation software from military to stage band to steelpan orchestra to philharmonic orchestra. I’m in the midst of preparing for a performance on the 3rd March and need my scores. I understand Encore 6 can open all MTD files, how soon can I access it and what’s the cost?December 12, 2024 at 4:13 am #3629Andre BaeckParticipantHello! Well, MTD 355 is exactly 21 years old, and 354 must be a little more. Yopu are very lucky that it was still running yesterday…
I periodically make a basic check of my old Encore 455, which is level-equivalent of MTD 355. Well, today it doesn’t work too well (it could save files, but not print). Same for an MTD archive.
Encore 6 is supposed to read Encore5/MTD4 files. It could be possible that earlier files would need an intermediary “conversion”.
In your current situation, your best bet would be to have a friend with E5/M4, who could help you with your files on the short term.
I’ll see, later today, if these E4/M3 levels would still run on an “old” Win10 which is unable to apply updates.

December 18, 2024 at 10:16 am #3694Andre BaeckParticipantAnthony, Encore 6 isn’t available yet, so there isn’t any download page!
I have checked my ruins of Encore 4.5 and MTDL 3.5. What I have archived doesn’t work well anymore, and what I remember as where the registration code lies (in an installation) seems no longer valid. I can open and save old files but not print them (I think the print routines are no longer compatible with Windows 10/11.
These 45/35 files can be opened – and printed – in Encore 5. I hope that this intermediary step will not be necessary.
