Will MusicTime Deluxe come back too? I’ve been working with this software for 30 years and since I don’t want to lose my hardware that I still modify, I’m still on macOS 10.13.6. for this reason 😢.
I haven’t used MusicTime Deluxe in over 25 years but I remember that, when I switched to Encore, the first thing I did was open my MTD files and save them in the full featured app. Is there any reason why this wouldn’t work for you?
None of the best known notation apps offer an entry level version anymore except Dorico. I’m not being facetious, just trying to understand why you feel a new version of MTD would be needed. Am I missing something?
Nicole,
I started with MusicTime 2.0 in the 90s and switched to Encore in 2014. I was able to open and edit all MusicTime files in Encore.
Encore offers more possibilities than MusicTime.
The interface is the same for both programs. Should work with your hardware.

I have used MTD for many years. I am getting a new MAcbook Pro. I need to update music writing software. Do I update MTD or is it Encore… or what is the easiest and most comparable. What transfers to people using Finale or Sibelius. ? I do not want to learn a new program
THanks
The program will not save – will not print without being superimposed – frustration plus – I have used this program and it is ‘broken’ – and there is no contact to help with this dilemma – when will this get fixed
If MTD is not printing on a Windows machine, the normal culprit is that it cannot find a valid license. Windows updates are well known for causing path errors. You may have to remove and reinstall MTD, reboot.
The last four MacOS are 64 bit only. 32 bit apps like MTD and Encore cannot work until upgraded. Encore 6 will be 64 bit and open older files but no one knows how old yet. Encore 5, unfortunately, could not open many older files.
