So, on the OCR/OMR topic…I tried Audiveris, which is what MuseScore is using, and got a little bit of one of the scores MuseScore gave me nothing for, but found it not at all obvious as to how to even get started with editing. But looking further I ran into SoundSlice, and with the same classical guitar score, I got an excellent, almost totally accurate result (in terms of notes and rhythm, not secondary stuff like fingerings), even distinguishing the two voices (presumably identifying them by the fact that certain notes had two stems). I was really surprised at that. I’ll have to do some more testing to see how it fares with a bit more variety, but one neat thing about it you can play it back and see it in sync with the original you uploaded, so you can theoretically see as it plays whether what it’s playing is consistent with the original. The downside is so far I don’t see a way to keep the scrolling in sync when you’re editing–that’s more useful to me as normal playback is often going to be too fast to really catch the errors. Anyway, I don’t know if anyone else out there is using a similar strategy, but one of the guys from SoundSlice wrote a blog about the project: https://www.holovaty.com/writing/machine-learning-thoughts. It’s subscription based, but they offer a month to month option, so you can just use it for a few months and cancel when you’re done, meanwhile exporting Music XML, MIDI, or apparently a GPX (guitar pro?) file. Anyway, I’m not a big fan of transcribing in a browser window, but for editing OMR output or doing things like online lessons it looks like it’s probably perfectly fine and user-friendly.

You wrote:
Encore 6 will be 64 bit and will run on Apple M1 and M2 machines. I haven’t tested it on M1 and M2 but I don’t see a problemDoes that mean it could still run on Intel 64 bit Macs?
That would be great…Thank You

December 10, 2024 at 5:37 pm #3624Great !
Thank You Don !December 12, 2024 at 1:23 pm #3630HI, I was looking for an update to MusicTime. Will Encore 6 handle MT files?
Best wishes,
Dave R
December 14, 2024 at 3:55 am #3633Encore 5 can read MT files.
The new Encore 6 should read the files of Encore 5, it should also work with MT files. Provided Don has included the .mts option as an extension.
Otherwise you would have to read and save the old MT files (mine are still from MT 2.0) in Encore 5 and then read them out again with Encore 6.
But I think that Don implies compatibility with the MT files.- This reply was modified 3 weeks, 3 days ago by Mario2.
December 14, 2024 at 11:33 am #3639I never saw MusicTime creating .mts files, I would have thought that .mts was for MasterTracks (which I never used).
MusicTime “DeLuxe” was normally creating .mus files (but other editors also, though they are not compatible). Another extension was .rhp (for Rhapsody, an intermediate level at some time).December 14, 2024 at 7:56 pm #3679I had forgotten .rhp files. Seems like a lifetime ago.
December 15, 2024 at 3:06 am #3684Perfect, can’t wait!
December 15, 2024 at 3:26 am #3685Andre, I have to correct myself. You are right, .mts are MasterTracksPro files. Since I also work with Master Tracks, I must have made a “Freudian” slip.
Of course the extension for MusicTime is .mus.December 18, 2024 at 3:16 pm #3698Long story short, my studio was robbed in 2016 & I lost everything, including the old 12″ Mac with Encore & my midi setup. On my newer Mac, I still have my old files, but losing my keyboard & other equipment shut me down from doing new arrangements. If you are…er…giving us an encore with a 64-bit update of Encore, I am ALL FOR IT! Add me to the Christmas list & tell me where to send how much money!

January 4, 2025 at 4:13 pm #3795I know you’re creating a conversion routine to bring Encore 5 scores into Encore 6.
Just want to throw in my two cents about conversion features.
I have scores that change time signatures throughout the piece.
Just want to be sure that has been addressed in the conversion routine.
Thanks.January 6, 2025 at 3:09 pm #3812First thing to question, is “Can a time/key signature, or a clef”, be changed inside the score. Logically, if the product supports that, it should “obviously” read in/convert these signatures from an imported file.
What I just did, is checking if Overture support these changes. Since Encore 6 will be an Encore interface to the existing Overture engine, one could reasonably think that this functionality should be similar.
Overture supports signature/clef changes in the middle of a score, but only at the beginning of a measure (bar). For Time Signature, I think that this is normal. For clef/key changes, some editors support it in the middle of a bar, some don’t.
That I can check (since I forgot) Encore 5 can have a clef change in the middle of a bar, but a key change only at the beginning. -
