I think prolonged agony is the truth. πŸ™‚ I’m surprised/pleased that Don is working on it at all…

I believe the version we need to use is Mojave 10.14.6. It is the last MacOS that runs 32-bit apps.

10.14.6 only runs on Intel Macs; looks like 2019 is the last model year we’d want for iMacs (2020 Intel iMacs came with 10.15), and 2018 for Minis. If you are buying a computer and want to make sure it will run 10.14.6, look it up on everymac.com, and see “Pre-Installed MacOS” (i.e., minimum MacOS) and “Maximum MacOS”; you want 10.14.6 to fall in between those versions.

I find that Minis tend to be a good deal in the used market, and easily replaced should something go wrong or when it’s time to upgrade, either because Encore 6 finally came out or because you give up; I have other reasons to stay on 10.14.6, like Adobe CS5. πŸ™‚

I have several computers that are kept on 10.14.6 so that I can keep running 32-bit apps, and do most of my music-writing, sound editing, word processing, web-surfing, Zooming, photo editing, art, and graphic designs on them. Typing this message on one now! πŸ™‚ The newer computers are used for… let’s see… tax preparation and panorama stitching, SPICE, and first drafts of things in Pages/Numbers… and when I get sick of checking feeds on a phone.
