I am looking forward to the new Encore. I have been using both Encore and Finale for many years and am now attempting to learn Dorico, which has a serious learning curve. At 76 years old, I am not enthusiastic about becoming fluent in another notation program. I wonder if the new Encore can include rhythmic notation in tablature, which would be a great addition.

        Anyone want new tutorials?

        I’d love new tutorials, Bryce!

FYI, here is my much less impressive shortcut list/visual aid for Mac users:

Thank you all so much for sharing the shortcut tables. They are very useful! Now we will have to see how they will look in the new version 6.0, which everyone is eagerly awaiting.

            Dear Mr. Williams,
I have been an Encore Music Software Version user starting with 3.0 in 1993, updated to 5.0.6 circa 2019-20. The software has served me very well. However, due to the need to update my computer’s operating system software, can you please send the 6.0 version information when and as soon as it’s available.

            Thank you,
            A. Charles

If a link to the Encore 5 installation file would help you to install on a new computer, please send me a mail to

                Q. Will it handle Music Time files? My old XP machine is getting flakey….

Encore and MusicTime (DeLuxe!) have the same format. The difference in file extension is just for clarity(?)

I purchased Encore 5 in 2018 for use on a Windows 10 computer. This computer has started having bootup issues to the point where it is unusable. I just purchased a Windows 11 machine. Would there be any possibility of me installing Encore 5 on this new computer?

                  #3936

Normally yes, Encore 5 runs as well on Windows 11 as it does on Windows 10. There have apparently been difficulties on some new systems (as opposed to upgrades), but there should be a solution by removing an (invasive) feature.
First thing is to try, if you still have the installation file.

Thank you for your reply. I actually took a closer look at the Desktop on my Windows 11 machine and discovered that there was an executable file with a name starting with “e5”. It must have been part of the data that I had been backing up from my Windows 10 machine to the cloud. So I realized the executable on the Windows 11 Desktop was the Encore 5 installation file. I proceeded to run the installation, launched Encore 5, and tried saving a dummy score. I was prompted for a license key — I was able to search through my email from six years ago and find the key. I entered the key and it was accepted. So I am able to save a score, print a page from a score, just like before, so I’m good to go.

Don’t get too excited, as of today we have no proof of Encore 6’s existence, nor do we know who is behind the Admin login…

With astronomical spring now here in the northern hemisphere, it seems we only have to wait until Thanksgiving next November to hear new rumors.
In the meantime, we can celebrate the birthday of J. S. Bach (and Mario2)
                          (I wish I was wrong).

Antonia, I also hope that you are wrong.
Maybe we can celebrate J. S. Bach’s birthday and mine at the same time as Encore 6 is released. 😉
