February 24, 2025 at 7:28 am #3914Q. Will it handle Music Time files? My old XP machine is getting flakey….

February 24, 2025 at 11:57 am #3915Encore and MusicTime (DeLuxe!) have the same format. The difference in file extension is just for clarity(?)
March 4, 2025 at 11:09 pm #3935I purchased Encore 5 in 2018 for use on a Windows 10 computer. This computer has started having bootup issues to the point where it is unusable. I just purchased a Windows 11 machine. Would there be any possibility of me installing Encore 5 on this new computer?
March 5, 2025 at 2:55 am #3936Normally yes, Encore 5 runs as well on Windows 11 as it does on Windows 10. There have apparently been difficulties on some new systems (as opposed to upgrades), but there should be a solution by removing an (invasive) feature.
First thing is to try, if you still have the installation file.-

March 5, 2025 at 4:05 pm #3938Thank you for your reply. I actually took a closer look at the Desktop on my Windows 11 machine and discovered that there was an executable file with a name starting with “e5”. It must have been part of the data that I had been backing up from my Windows 10 machine to the cloud. So I realized the executable on the Windows 11 Desktop was the Encore 5 installation file. I proceeded to run the installation, launched Encore 5, and tried saving a dummy score. I was prompted for a license key — I was able to search through my email from six years ago and find the key. I entered the key and it was accepted. So I am able to save a score, print a page from a score, just like before, so I’m good to go.

March 19, 2025 at 7:02 pm #3954I am so excited to hear of the possible release of encore I have used it for over 20 years. and have thousands of files. What a joy to have it back again running of a modern computer
March 20, 2025 at 3:48 am #3955Don’t get too excited, as of today we have no proof of Encore 6’s existence, nor do we know who is behind the Admin login…
March 20, 2025 at 5:41 am #3957With astronomical spring now here in the northern hemisphere, it seems we only have to wait until Thanksgiving next November to hear new rumors.
In the meantime, we can celebrate the birthday of J. S. Bach (and Mario2)
(I wish I was wrong).March 20, 2025 at 7:58 am #3964Antonia, I also hope that you are wrong.
Maybe we can celebrate J. S. Bach’s birthday and mine at the same time as Encore 6 is released. πMarch 22, 2025 at 11:00 pm #4038i had encore 5 on my old laptop. when it stopped charging, i got a new laptop. installed encore and it asked for a license key. i have looked everywhere for it and cannot find it. π i have been having to learn musescore, and i miss encore. i also have a lot of old files that i can’t open any more. would love to be able to use encore again.
March 23, 2025 at 10:32 am #4043Well, it will depend on how broken is your old laptop.
If it still works when connected to power, and no longer on batteries, you can get access to your license key within the registry (in Windows) and most probably what is equivalent on a mac. What is your operating system?
March 26, 2025 at 8:44 am #4102it doesn’t work when connected to power either. it’s windows. i’m going to try to get a replacement battery and see if i can start it up again and get the license key off of it while the battery has life.
March 29, 2025 at 11:57 am #4117Looking forward to it — as a long time Encore user, who has tried to migrate to Finale and Dorico, I still prefer Encore on my old G4!
