Maybe we can celebrate J. S. Bach’s birthday and mine at the same time as Encore 6 is released
Tomorrow is going to be the big day! 😇
March 31, 2025 at 8:53 am #4122Happy birthday, Mario!
However, JSB’s anniversary was 10 days ago, he was born at the spring equinox, although in a place where the julian calendar was still active. But the calendar change dit not change former days.
March 31, 2025 at 11:27 am #4123Happy birthday, Mario!
Thank you very much, Andre!
I hadn’t expected birthday wishes. So I’m all the happier about it.Unfortunately, my birthday wish, the delivery of Encore 6, was not fulfilled.
April 1, 2025 at 4:40 am #4128Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21, 1685, but at that time the “Julian calendar” was still in use. The change to the current calendar (Gregorian Calendar) was made later. This means that many sources say that Bach was born on March 31.
In short: March 21, 1685 today falls on March 31.
We can celebrate both days! and If we had the Encore 6, we would be even happier!
Happy birthday Mario2!April 1, 2025 at 7:02 am #4130Thank you very much Antonia.
I am totally overwhelmed. And if Encore 6 were also finished now, then the world would be perfect. 😇May 2, 2025 at 1:23 pm #4187I have been using the Encore Software since the early 1990’s, and continue to like it a lot!
As a College music director and teacher, I have a few work study students for whom I would like to obtain this software… and so have been awaiting the Encore 6 update over the past year or so.
But in fact, I am still using Encore 5, which is for the most part still a great tool. While waiting for Encore 6, would it be possible for us to obtain / purchase / download Encore 5 for my students?
This would be a great help for us, as we have several projects which depend on it; I’d much rather stick with Encore, than to purchase other available software!
Thanks!
May 2, 2025 at 1:32 pm #4188There is no way to purchase Encore 5 at this time.
May 6, 2025 at 9:40 pm #4204Is it worthwhile to download Overture to get a feel for the new Encore, since it relies heavily on the Overture code? I use Dorico, Finale and Sibelius already, so have no problem going that route if it would be of benefit while we continue to wait for Encore 6.0

Many choir directors, teachers, etc are sharing their regostration code with their choir members, students or friends.
This is for sure not matching the EULA (End-User License Agreement), and, in several countries, be illegal. However, when the owner of the rights does not/market distribute a product anymore, doing this (for free) becomes a “venial sin”, or a “minor offense”…

As far as I understand, Encore 6 will (?) use something like an Overture core, keeping an Encore-like GUI. The core is something important, but is invisible to the eyes – except for the developer, and bugs. However, it has been said that the palettes would be replaced by a kind of dock, located at the left side of the screen. And if you look at Overture’s GUI, it resembles very much to a kind of dock, located at the left side of the screen.
Let’s not forget that a GUI is designed at a certain moment in time, designed towards the equipment – the screen, primarily – available at that moment.
This kind of left-side dock, if built around 1990, would either have unreadable characters, or not leave any room for the score. Today it’s quite different, the screens are so large that one needs to fill them (just kidding…)-

May 11, 2025 at 6:22 am #4219According to Amin’s post dated November 27, 2024, he said this:
Funny thing is, the latest code that was sent to me, will not open some of the original Mac demo files.
But, the good news is, I can open them with the new code. This is why I have chosen to use Overture code, instead of the old Encore code.
The old Encore code has been driving me nuts, with all the bugs, so it is a very slow process.Which means, as you may have noticed, Encore 6 will use something like an Overture core, keeping an Encore-like GUI with the addition of new features.
This will no longer create too much work for existing users who have pending projects. For the palettes to be replaced by a sort of dock, I would suggest that it also be detachable to better allow the user to organize their work environment like most modern software.
May 14, 2025 at 11:12 am #4228TRIPLETS IN UNBEAMED NOTES
In older versions of Encore, the number 3 above the triplets is placed on each note. It is not possible to use a single number 3 above the three eighth notes in a non-beamed note. This is only possible in beamed mode.
I would suggest that this be revised as well.May 15, 2025 at 10:58 am #4229You can convert the number 3 above un-beamed notes, even with different values, to a number 3 in a broken beam using the “Triplets beam group” located in the toolbar.
May 20, 2025 at 6:31 pm #4239The manual shows how to do this. If you still need help, please let us know if Mac or Windows, the OS version and build of Encore.
May 21, 2025 at 6:01 am #4243Mister Mike I still need help about it because I use a lot triplet in my compositions.
