How “old” is that earlier Mac? Which system version is it running? Encore 5.0.7 was out in 2014, Mac OS X 10.10 Mavericks was the system by then.

Another option is to run Mojave in a virtual Machine, or to install Mojave on a dedicated external disk on which you can launch your Mac when needed…

I know. We all know. And we’re in the wait for ages (the 5.0.7 update came in April 2014!) But we’re still hopeful, aren’t we?

Well, Winter ends in March. We still have two and a half month until then. πŸ˜‰

I’m sure the team are working hard to have it out.

The 5.0.7 update won’t help. Encore 5.x will not run on Monterey. The latest possible version is Mojave, Encore 5 being a 32-bit application… Too bad, you’ll have to wait a couple of weeks now.

πŸ˜‰ Well it runs, but of course I don’t use it (and haven’t been using it ever since Encore 5 came out). I kept it “just in case”. My bad: in fact, it’s within a Snow Leopard (and not High Sierra) Virtual Machine.

Unfortunately(?), I didn’t keep any MusicTime file (I suppose that in those long gone days I stored them on floppy disks…) but certainly would give it a try and open such files if I had the opportunity to put my mouse on some.

I do have a version 4.5.6 of Encore running in a High Sierra virtual machine. If it may help, I can try and convert older MusicTime files. But only if I can get one of these files – I’ve converted mine years and years and years ago πŸ˜‰

Oh, thank you for this heads-up! Really appreciated to have some (positive) news. It’ll keep me in the hope… πŸ˜‰

I’m using Encore version 5.0.7.8M on a Mac running Mojave 10.14.6 and don’t experience that much crashes. I’d say it’s quite a stable version so far, although I’m not using it too often these days (and I’d love to see version 6 someday!)

Does your Midi Guitar work with GarageBand? Can you see it in the Audio and MIDI configuration.app? It’s sometimes quite tricky to get it all to work…

Yes Mike! I’m living with the same expectations, terrified with the idea my Mac mini would need to be replaced with a brand new machine, taking me away from Mojave and Encore. Well, I keep my fingers crossed… πŸ˜‰

For what it’s worth: I could read in another forum that @Notes_Norton personally met M. Don Williams (some time ago) and was told that the step was higher than expected and so it would take more time to get the works done…

Encore 5 being a 32 bits application, it won’t run in any recent version of macOS. Mojave (macOS 10.14.6) being the latest possible option (Encore being the reason why I’m still using Mojave!) Encore 6 should run on a Mac running Ventura, I suppose, but we’re still hoping to see it come to live. πŸ˜‰
