Inside of the Encore product folder, the is a program called “autoupdate-windows.exe” – meant for automatic update from a server. I have copies signed GVOX and some signed. PassportMusic.
From 2014, I have two zipped files containing a “EncoreUpdater.exe”. They have about the same size, and both are signed PassportMusic. Both initiate and ask for the installed version to update, but quickly fail when trying to download from a server, which “obviously” does not exist anymore.If my memory serves, these zipped files could be downloaded from the public Passport web site.
With the same “if”, at GVOX time the site contained an installation file for demo purposes, but it wasn’t different from a full version: the registration key could be inserted to activate as full.
At Passport time, new users received a full installation file (or a link to it) which was also sent to older users asking for it. Jennifer did that till two years ago.Craig,

I just made an inventory of what I have in hands:– Mainly two official versions: 504/872 (26/08/2014) and 504/875 (25/11/2014) – both with OptiFingering (optionally licensed)
– Two demo versions: 504/809 (11/10/2013) and 504/858 (08/07/2014) – both without OptiFingering – they cannot be activated with the license numberAnd I obtained recently the installation file for 504/875 (at that time, only new users received it, existing users could download an Update).
I have also one for each demo version.Yes, Encore 504 runs on Windows 11. Someone else here had difficulties to start and introduce the licence code, and I gave a hint for it.
Actually my Windows 11 is an upgrade from W10, where Encore was already installed before.I didn’t locate the installation file, except that of the demo version. But I should check further on all of my backup disks (first find the inventory!)
Best preserve your installation libraries and registry settings, on your old computer. There is a method I think of which might work, but I cannot reinstall W11 from scratch to test it and loose a lot.

What you should do, is to look, on your old system, at the registry (regedit) on HK_CURRENT_USER/Software/XXX/Encore/5.0/Registration where XXX can be PASSPORT, PassPortMusic or GVOX

What I sometimes did, if my memory serves:
– arrange that the deletion start is at the beginning of a page, or perhaps a system
– similarly that the deletion end is at the end of a page (or system)
– and delete the concerned page(s)
– then rearrange…I’d guess that Encore 455 will read these files correctly. As I recently recovered a copy of it, you could send me a file for checking – andre.baeck(at)gmail.com
That I remember, E5 cannot read files that old. An intermediate save in E455 or early E5 may be needed.
Encore does not create XML before E5, and yet is is very basic – and does not include the lyrics.As an alternative, Harmony Assistant reads E455 files pretty well. And can generally create a quite good XML. I can check that too.
Geoffrey, I found a copy of Encore 455 on a backup disk.
I could open a couple a score, make some edition, both on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
However, printing works on Windows 10 but not on Windows 11!

I understand that a new version needs time to upgrade or develop, and at first I was really surprized of the first annoucement with only a 6-months delay.Now, it would be nice if Don would give us a periodic (quarterly?) update, with a realistic outlook for availability (or beta-testing).

Do you think it will be possible in version 6?”This has “always” been possible. Actually, the extra staff “exists” in all systems, but you can hide it where you want to (select the staves you want to hide, and press “hide staves” in the View Menu).
