    @ GDelanghe
As far as I understand, Encore 6 will (?) use something like an Overture core, keeping an Encore-like GUI. The core is something important, but is invisible to the eyes – except for the developer, and bugs.

However, it has been said that the palettes would be replaced by a kind of dock, located at the left side of the screen. And if you look at Overture’s GUI, it resembles very much to a kind of dock, located at the left side of the screen.

Let’s not forget that a GUI is designed at a certain moment in time, designed towards the equipment – the screen, primarily – available at that moment.
This kind of left-side dock, if built around 1990, would either have unreadable characters, or not leave any room for the score. Today it’s quite different, the screens are so large that one needs to fill them (just kidding…)

Send me a mail, I can give you access to the install file.

in reply to: Where do I purchase and or download Encore #4192

Send me a mail, I can give you access to an installer file (only the encore.exe would not be sufficient, you need libraries and fonts).

Thanks Mike, one learns everyday and at any age.

Strange enough, it’s about 45 years that I’m a forum participant (initially at professional level, and most often in English) and I never noticed this acronym.
Perhaps when they were called “bulletin board”?

in reply to: Mac OS and Encore #4171

A library move from one system to another is probably not sufficient, a few things need to come “inside” the system. You need to reinstall.
If you don’t have the installation file anymore, please send me a mail and you’ll get a download link for an installer.

You’ll need the registration code, though.

Mike, I have a single page with Windows and Mac versions, so that I don’t really need to know. Jack70N was answered end of March, I think he has everything OK.
Actually, I have 455 only for Windows, but I hadn’t yet anybody needing it for Mac.

What do you mean by “the OP” ?

in reply to: Will we ever see Encore 6? #4155

I have something in that area… please send me a mail

in reply to: Music XML #4143

What I understand is that a new XML version is an upgrade to the old one, so that all old tags and parameters remain valid. There would be new tags, of course, but linked to functionalities which are newly supported – which are probably not the most used ones.
I’ll suppose that new markup tags, properly opened and closed, are due to be ignored by older levels.

Similarly to html, where several levels peacefully coexist.

in reply to: Desperate for a serial number – Help?? #4136

“I just signed up to say this. I have found a working serial number
    922185-u0v827-732483-038877-000077-561479”

I saw that one on the web. Looks like an “unofficial” distribution. Such serial numbers only work with some cracked program copies.

in reply to: Desperate for a serial number – Help?? #4127

AFAIK, this is not an Encore serial number

    Happy birthday, Mario!

However, JSB’s anniversary was 10 days ago, he was born at the spring equinox, although in a place where the julian calendar was still active. But the calendar change dit not change former days.

As far as I can see, Encore can read MTS files (as generated by MasterTracks, there could be other usages of this extension).
You could send me one to make a test.

in reply to: Encore 4.5.3 trouble #4107

    Bart,
Yes I found it and I’m busy putting it on my site. Send me a mail so that I have yout e-mail address (mine can easily be derived from my user name here).

in reply to: Encore 4.5.3 trouble #4105

I cannot be specific for Encore 453, but I have a copy of 455 which, still today, opens normally on Windows 11. I think I have an installation file for 455, I’ll see to add it on my download page that I can send you on request.

Encore 5 will definitely open Encore 4 files, otherwise nobody would have migrated from E4 to E5. There is some older level which could not directly be opened, it required an intermediate step, but I don’t remember which that was.

That I remember, the license keys distributed with new purchases in 2006 or 2007 were accepted in Encore 5, but older ones were not (but were in E455, I guess).

Now, it is not possible nowadays to purchase an Encore 5 license, since PassportMusic stopped business in the 2021/2022 timeframe.

    Greetings from Belgium

    Sent.
